Why your socks may be eligible
On their own, socks usually aren't an HSA/FSA expense. But with a Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed provider, medically supportive products like compression and diabetic socks can qualify as reimbursable medical expenses under IRS guidelines.
Because HSA/FSA funds are set aside before taxes, that approval can mean net savings of up to ~30%, depending on your tax bracket — real money back on products that support circulation, comfort, and diabetic foot health.

How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?
HSA and FSA accounts let you spend pre-tax dollars on qualified health expenses. Because that money is never taxed as income, you get more purchasing power — savings of up to ~30% on eligible purchases, depending on your tax bracket.
Are compression and diabetic socks really eligible?
Yes — with a Letter of Medical Necessity. All of our compression and diabetic socks qualify once a licensed provider substantiates the need through Truemed, making them reimbursable medical expenses.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)?
It's documentation from a licensed provider confirming that a product supports your health or treatment. It satisfies IRS requirements to make your purchase reimbursable, and it's valid for 12 months — so a single LMN can cover repeat orders during that period.
How do I check out with HSA/FSA?
Add your socks to cart, choose Truemed at checkout, and complete a short eligibility survey. If your HSA/FSA card has enough funds, pay directly. If not, use any card and follow the reimbursement steps Truemed sends you.
Can I use a regular credit card and get reimbursed?
Absolutely — and we often recommend it for the smoothest experience. Pay with your usual card, then submit your receipt and LMN to your HSA/FSA administrator. Most reimbursements are approved within days.
What if I don't have enough in my account?
You can still get partial reimbursement. For example, on a $200 order with $140 available, you can reimburse $140 tax-free and cover the remaining $60 as normal.
Is there any cost or risk to me?
There's no cost to use Truemed when you shop with a partner brand like Dr. Johnny's. Truemed also offers a reimbursement guarantee: as long as you have funds in your account, they'll work with you to make sure an eligible purchase is reimbursed in full.
What if I don't have an HSA or FSA?
Truemed's services are for customers with an HSA or FSA (or those funding one during open enrollment). If you're not sure, your employer or HR team can help. These accounts are currently available only in the U.S.
